
Q-RIDE Pre-Learner (RE-L)
The Q-Ride Pre-Learner course is a Queensland government requirement for obtaining your Learner’s Permit. It's specifically designed to help new riders build essential riding knowledge and skills in a safe environment before hitting the road. RideCraft Motorcycle Training is a Registered Service Provider, accredited by the Department of Transport and Main Roads to offer Q-Ride motorcycle training courses. Aimed at individuals with no prior riding experience, the course covers key topics such as protective gear, riding curves, controlled braking, and good roadcraft. The course consists of 34 modules, across two days

Motorcycle rental & use of one of our helmets and gloves are included in the course fees.

What to Wear:

Long pants/jeans, long-sleeve shirt & socks that cover your ankles (no exposed skin)

Sturdy enclosed shoes (runners are fine) (NO STEELCAP BOOTS)

You will need a helmet & gloves or if needed, we can provide these for you

Eligibility Requirements
Must hold an Open class driver’s licence, or a Provisional licence held for at least 1 year
Licence must be current and not expired or disqualified
Must be a Queensland driver’s licence. If the licence is not from Queensland, documentation from TMR confirming eligibility must be provided

Purpose
The Q-Ride pre-learner course is designed to help new riders gain basic riding knowledge and motorcycle handling skills in a safe environment before learning to ride on the road. Designed for people with no riding experience, the course covers the basics of riding including protective gear, riding curves, controlled braking and good roadcraft.
Delivery Method
The course offers both theoretical and practical elements to ensure comprehensive motorcycle riding education.

Theory Lessons
Classroom-based instruction covering topics like road rules, safety gear, hazard awareness, and riding techniques.
​
Practical Training
Hands-on training focused on key riding skills including balance, motorcycle controls, starting/stopping, cornering, braking, and low-speed maneuvering.

Course Outcome
Completion of the Q-Ride pre-learner course is a prerequisite for applying for a Queensland motorcycle learner licence (RE-L). The course is competency-based and approved by the Queensland Department of Transport and Main Roads (TMR).

Assessment Criteria
Participants must demonstrate competence in each module before progressing and earning the Competency Declaration required to register for the Motorcycle Knowledge Test (TMR).
Authorised Instructors
Our Q-Ride instructor is a Senior Accredited Rider Trainer, authorized by TMR to deliver the course and assess participants’ competency.
