
Q-RIDE RE Course (RE)
The Q-Ride restricted (RE) course is the second step to getting your motorbike licence. It's designed to help learner riders further develop their riding knowledge and skills.
Designed for riders who have completed the Q-Ride pre-learner course and are confident riders. The course reviews and builds on the pre-learner course to further develop riding knowledge and skills. Conducted over a single day it's a combination of on-range (not on the road) and on-road activities.

Course Requirements
What to Wear:

Long pants/jeans, long-sleeve shirt & socks that cover your ankles (no exposed skin)

Sturdy enclosed shoes (runners are fine) (NO STEELCAP BOOTS)

You will need a helmet & gloves, plus a jacket for the road ride, or if needed, we can provide these for you

Eligibility Requirements
Must hold RE-L restricted learner motorcycle licence AND have held it for at least 91 days
Licence must be current and not expired or disqualified
Must be a Queensland driver’s licence. If the licence is not from Queensland, documentation from TMR confirming eligibility must be provided

Further Q-Ride RE Information
Purpose
The Restricted (RE) licence course is a competency based training and assessment course designed to help learner riders further develop their riding knowledge and motorcycle handling skills
This course is up to 8 hours and you must have riding experience, ideally be riding a manual motorcycle regularly in mainstream traffic conditions and be confident with cornering, low speed clutch, gears and braking control. The course is a mix between on-range and on-road activities.

Delivery
It includes both theoretical and practical training components to ensure a comprehensive understanding of motorcycle riding basics.

Course Content
Theory Lessons
Delivered in a classroom setting and includes presentations and discussions which cover topics such as road rules, safety gear, hazard management, and riding techniques.

Practical Training
The RE practical training will be similar to the pre-learner course content with additional activities, including a 2-hour road riding assessment at the end of the course.

Course Outcome
Completion of the Q-Ride RE course is a prerequisite for applying for a Queensland motorcycle RE licence (RE). The course is competency-based and approved by the Queensland Department of Transport and Main Roads (TMR).

Assessment Criteria
Participants must demonstrate competence in each module before progressing and earning the Competency Declaration.

Authorised Instructors
Our Q-Ride instructor is a Senior Accredited Rider Trainer, authorized by TMR to deliver the course and assess participants’ competency.
What's Next
Once you have completed the RE Course

Apply to upgrade to RE Open licence
Once you are deemed competent, log into TMR to upgrade your learner licence to RE

Riding Solo on the road
Once your licence is upgrade to RE-O you can now ride on the road solo. Make sure you're aware of the Rules for RE licence holders

Upgrade to R Licence
Once you have held your RE licence for 2 years, you are eligible to undertake the R course & apply for an open licence
