Further Q-Ride R Information
Purpose
The Q-Ride unrestricted (R) course is designed to reinforce riders’ knowledge and skills, and further develop higher order cognitive skills and risk management strategies. Designed for riders who have completed the Q-Ride restricted (RE) course and have significant riding experience, the course is conducted mainly on-road with regular stops to provide coaching and discuss safe riding behaviours and strategies. The R course contains 7 modules that are delivered over half a day.
The course aims to:
-
enhance and reinforce riders’ knowledge and skills to effectively manage riding situations on a more powerful motorcycle
-
reinforce good riding attitudes
-
minimise the likelihood of harm due to inappropriate riding skills, behaviours or risk management.
Delivery
It includes both a simulated road-ride on range, followed by a 2 hour road ride.

Course Content
On Range
You will participate in a simulated road ride, where you'll need to demonstrate a variety of skills and techniques, including:
-
Roundabouts – Navigate turns at low speeds with control
-
Slow Ride – Maintain control of the bike at a slow, walking pace
-
Swerve – Steer around an obstacle while cornering
-
Stop to a Point – Stop quickly and smoothly, maintaining full control
On Road
You will undertake a 2 hour road ride to demonstrate your ability to handle both routine and more complex riding situations on a higher-powered motorcycle. The ride aims to reinforce safe riding habits, promote responsible riding attitudes, and reduce the risk of harm caused by inadequate riding skills, behaviors, or risk management.
